I'll never forget what he said to me. He said "Mom, if you're going to do it, DO IT!, don't wait for Monday." And thank you to LA Weight Loss who helped me shed the last 38 pounds and are still hanging in there with me so that I do not gain it back. School days, school days, dear old golden rule days, back when math was arithmetic and when phonics was an important part of the curriculum. Those were days of first love and first heartache. I remember my first breakup. I had a good cry in the shower and when I was done, I moved on, unlike today when girls mope for days. Those were days of sock hops and dances, when you really wanted to dance but were scared to death that someone might actually ask you to.
Our musical journey took us through these memories with several songs for the 50s including Chuck Berry's School Days and ending with 18 Till I Die by Bryan Adams.

Young love: I love you because I need you.
Mature Love: I need you because I love you.

Rita's Romantic Picks

Today on Rendezvous we are featuring Rita's Romantic picks. Recently a charming older man came to my store with wants to buy it. Since it had been doing poorly since 9/11 I was more than happy to be able to squeeze some cash out of it rather than close it.

So, Patrick White, who professed to be Jewish, became the savior of my little business. He made big promises. He told me that he recently had a heart attack and it changed his focus on the world and that he wanted to do things now that were meaningful. He said he really was not interested in making a profit but in helping me out. I was leery but, on the other hand, I did not have much to lose at that point. I had quite a debt and the store was costing me personal money to keep open. What the heck?

Patrick White was involved with PRUDE a not-for-profit organization in town and also was a regular at the senior's center. He took me to both places and introduced me around. Everyone seemed to know and like Patrick. He was up front and told me that he had only been in Saint John for a couple of months, that he had moved here from out west. Thus, I knew there was no reason to go to these organizations for references as they had not known him long either.

Over the next couple of weeks we made deals and he told me he wanted me to stay on since I had the experience to run the business and we would work together to turn the thing around. He said, "You won't be using any more of your money. I'll be responsible now". But, Patrick was always waiting for a cheque. I loaned him $100 one day thinking, if he is a con, I'll never see this money again but hey, it is only $100 and it was worth finding out. He did not have the money on the day he said he would but the next day he paid me back. And so it went on. He kept making more promises that just seemed too good to be true. He had the store torn apart renovating and it was coming along well. But, then he moved my stock out to his apartment so that it would not be in the way of the renovations. I was not happy with that as he had not asked me my permission. I mentioned it to him and smiling, as he always did, he assured me that he had given me the written agreement and that things were fine. Then, I overheard that a couple of my displays were sold. I told Patrick that he was not to sell any more of my things unless he spoke to me first. Again, he said he needed to create some cash flow for the renovations and that the new store did not need those racks. Further more, he told me that those particular racks were not sold but given to a charity that he was involved in. And on it went, until one day after about a month, on the day that Patrick was to have my first weekly payment of $500, he did not have all the $500 payment for me. He gave me $300. Not only that, he had borrowed $1200 from my husband's business that day.  So, he was actually paying me with my own money and not even the full amount!  I was not happy at all but what could I do?  I left to go put the cash on my taxes that were owing for my business but when I got to town, I did not have the money.  I had not taken my purse into the store so I had put the money in my pocket.  I was sure he had either taken in back when I was not looking or pick pocketed me.  I went back to the mall, even looked through the trash at Tim Hortons and could not find the money.  After checking with the various lost and founds in the mall, I was leaving and ran into the mall manager.  I told her the story and she asked if I had checked all my pockets.  I said, "Of course, I only have two". She said, "No the one on the side of your leg?"  I said, "I never use that".  Then she said "Well what about your back pocket, I can see you have something in it."  Sure enough I had the money all along.  Things work out like they should because during this escapade, I had been very suspicious of Patrick.  Actually, I had been suspicious of his motives right from the start so, I called a Jewish acquaintance of mine, who is big in the Jewish community and asked her if she knew Patrick White.  She said she had never heard of him, that he had never set foot in their synagogue.  That put up a big red flag for me.  The next morning I went on the web to see if I could find out anything about Patrick White.  He had said he was a retired "big wig" in the Canadian government and he showed me lots of ID to prove it.  I was sure if he had been that important, that there would be something somewhere about him on the net, a meeting he'd been involved in etc.  I surfed and surfed.  I could not find anything about that but when I added "con" to the search, this is what I found;

In a 1994 Toronto Life article entitled "Con Man," the criminal life of Patrick White was explored, stemming from his defrauding of a local newspaper of $20,000. "Charmed by White's affable manner, by his habit of smiling when he spoke," and "by the Torah he displayed on his night table," David Mackin allowed alleged investor Mr. White to take over as Managing Editor of his small newspaper. "White," notes Toronto Life, "was regularly attending Kensington market synagogue and by all appearances was a devoutly religious man." [TORONTO LIFE, 11-94] Once White absconded, it was learned that he was a master fraudster. He had served jail time in Canada in 1978 for "indecent assault," and in 1982 for "a pair of fraud convictions." And there were outstanding arrest warrants for him across North America: Ontario -- theft, Virginia -- sexual assault against a boy, New York -- larceny, Mississippi -- sodomy and sexual assault against a boy, Ontario -- theft, Nova Scotia -- theft and fraud, Virginia -- sexual assault, and Alberta -- sexual assault. In New Brunswick, he then hired 35 people for nonexistent jobs for a nonexistent night club, charging them each $100 for "uniforms." While in Toronto, White once hired three boys to shovel snow from his sidewalk. Inviting them inside, he showed them pornography. "When police searched the house," notes Toronto Life, "they found a cache of pornography along with religious texts White had borrowed from a local rabbi. It was entitled The Sexual Morality of Young People." [TORONTO LIFE, 11-94]

This describes Patrick so I went to the police. They listened to my story and then said that the name rang a bell. They brought out some pictures for me to look through and sure enough he was in the "line up" so to speak. They had 4 warrants out for his arrest in Saint John alone. I took them to him and they arrested the creep.

They allowed me to take the stock from his apartment that belonged to me but unfortunately he had already sold over half. He had a bail hearing yesterday. He did not get bail. He was reprimanded to jail until his trial in September. Some things do go right!

Since then, I have found out more about Patrick White. He is not allowed to be around boys under the age of 14. You know what that means. And there are warrants all around the country for his arrest. My understanding is that he has never worked a legitimate job for a day in his life. He preys on business that are not doing well and basically promises to be their savior. He also preys on lower income people and seniors, offering everyone hope. I found a file of his in my office with vocabulary that he was studying, catch phrases, sayings and Bible verses that he was memorizing. He had law books in his apartment that he read and studied. He truly is a pro.

Unfortunately, fraud does not come with a heavy penalty as it is not a violent crime. So, I am told that he will likely end up with house arrest in the end and likely move to another city where he will be safe because every warrant has a radius. Some are only 25 miles. They are set by the DA. This means that often they just want him out of their city. In other words, they are passing the problem on. I am very sad to learn this because this means that Patrick White will eventually move on to repeat his crimes. Think about it, he is 62 years old and it has been his life's work. He has not spent much time in jail. He knows the law and uses it to his advantage. The reason for me recording this on my blog is so that if you come in contact with this criminal, you will have another place to find information about him.

Patrick White is 62 years old now(August 19, 2005). He does look a bit Jewish. I don't know if he really is but he has all the stuff to prove it including the Torah. However, he does eat ham, saying it is not important what you put in your mouth but rather what comes out of it. He is not a handsome man. He is overweight, he has buck teeth with large spaces between his teeth. His head is oval shaped and slopes towards the back. His hair is gray but his hairline is well receded. He wears glasses. He always smiles when he speaks and looks you right in the eye. He is pleasant and is always trying to help people, especially younger boys and young men, giving them a "safe" place to stay for a few nights at his home. In the short time I knew him he had three older homeless teens staying with him but not all at the same time. He plays the organ by ear. He tries to get heavily involved in volunteer organizations to give himself credibility. He claims to have heart problems and knows all the medications that go along with that and he will flash his bottle of nitro for you to see. He claims to be law abiding and does not like it for you to speed if you are driving him. This of course is because he is nervous of the police seeing him if you are caught because of the number of warrants out for him. He is good and very convincing. If you become involved with him, go to the police. He is bad news.

Burnin' Love

This weeks theme for the show is Burnin' Love. It was inspired by a story that a very good friend told me about when he was once on vacation and met a very nice lady. When their vacations came to an end, saying good-bye to him, she thanked him for the summer wine. Since I seem to have a relationship with this cosmic orb, I decided to go down to Saints Rest and watch it rise over the Bay of Fundy. The full moon always rises shortly after sunset. I was walking the beach, in the dark, waiting for him to show his face. It was a beautiful, warm evening. Unfortunately the mosquitoes were bad and I had to keep moving. It was getting late and I was about to turn around when I noticed a red, dim, glow on the horizon. I thought it was a ship but I could not figure out why it was glowing red. Then it started to brighten and it hit me that it was him, the moon. He was red, red, red, likely embarrassed because he almost missed our date. I had never seen a red moon before. I'd seen orange and yellow, but never red. When he had finally lifted his heavy head up out of the water he was still blushing casting red ripples onto the water. It was an awesome sight!

It also happened to be the eve of my birthday. I accepted the ruby moon as a wonderful gift for my birthday seeing as my birthstone is ruby as well. No fireworks could have matched that serene rise of the moon. I was so glad that I had taken the time to go and watch the show.

The moon followed me home, though he changed his robe to white and finally, when I turned out my light, he shone right through my window, into my bedroom and onto my pillow as if to say, I'm watching you too.

Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer's Day?

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate.

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer's lease hath all too short a date.

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;

But thy eternal summer shall not fade

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st;

Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st:

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

Quote by O.A. Just the two of them. It was a cold, dark, stormy night. The storm had come quickly and each time the thunder boomed he watched her jump. She looked across the room and admired his strong appearance...and wished that he would take her in his arms, comfort her and protect her from the storm. She wanted that, more than anything.

Suddenly, with a pop, the power went out...she screamed...he raced to the sofa where she was cowering. He didn't hesitate to pull her into his arms. He knew this was a forbidden union and expected her to pull back. He was surprised when she didn't resist but instead, clung wildly to him. The storm raged on and there came a moment when each knew that they had to be together. They knew it was wrong... Their families would never understand. So consumed were they in their passion that they heard no opening of doors...just the faint click of a camera......

V

V

V

V

V

Esto Trip Part 2 - The Sauna

I left Tallinn on Thursday, March 24th for Saaremaa. Saaremaa is a large island off of the west coast of mainland Estonia. Kuressaare is the main city and my destination. I was going to take the bus which would have taken 4 hours including a 1/2 hour ferry ride for about $20 CDN but at the last minute I heard that flying would only cost me $49 CDN return and the flight was just over 1/2 hour. Needless to say I flew. What a price!

The first night in Kuressaare I had a "real" sauna. Now I am going to tell you what a "real" sauna is. Sauna's originally came form either Estonia or Finland. The Finns and Estonians are very closely related. Sauna's were invented as bath houses. They usually are made up of two rooms. The sauna itself and the outer room. The outer rooms can be quite elaborate with seating and bar fridges etc. or very simple. The outer room is used for changing and relaxing. There is a stove, often a wood stove, that heats the sauna and rocks. The opening to feed the fire is in the outer room but most of the stove is in the sauna. Rocks on top of the stove become very hot. Often there is a small boiler attached to the wood stove to heat water for washing. There are also basins, wooden buckets and vihks in the sauna as well as a barrel of cool water. A vihk is a small bunch of young birch branches tied and dried with their leaves still on.

The sauna was and is also a social event. Often family's sauna together or you sauna with your friends. It is not uncommon to be invited over for a sauna. It is a social even for two main reasons. It is a very relaxing thing to do and also it gives you time to talk when you can't do anything else.

When you enter the sauna you first of all pour water on the rocks to create steam. You continue to put water on the rocks if the sauna becomes cool. Then you find a spot to sit or lay. There are usually two shelves in the sauna to sit on. It is much warmer to sit on the upper shelf. It is nice to have a friend to sauna with because at this point you have time to converse and enjoy the steam. The steam makes you sweat and your skin should start to exfoliate. At this point it's a good idea to take the vihk, I described to you, and put it in a basin of cool water to wet it. Then, you need to slap it on the hot rocks. This softens it. Then you slap, or have your friend slap your body all over with it. This brings the blood to the surface of the skin and continues the exfoliating process. It does not hurt at all. It actually feels good like a massage. When you are finished with the vihk, you wash as normal using the basins etc. You don't have to worry about spilling water in the sauna as it is all wet anyway. You or your friend can pour water all over you to rinse your body of soap etc. and finish your bath.

It is common while you are still lying on the shelf to take a break and retreat to the outer room for a drink and to cool down a bit. This is so you don't dehydrate but it is also part of the social event. Once, when I was at my cousins in Finland with a friend, the three of us took a sauna. It was a very old stone sauna left over from Viking times and did not have an outer room. After we had sat in the heat for some time, my cousin invited us onto a cement patio that was built outside on the front of the sauna. It was a very nice summer evening. There were candles lit and she had cool drinks for us but I have to say it was weird sitting out there naked. All I could think of was what if someone would drive up the driveway about then. I guess I'm still a bit of a Canadian prude. We sat and chatted for a while and then went back and continued our sauna.

The sauna was one of the highlights of my trip. Where I had been staying in Tallinn did not have a shower. I kept washed, of course but I had to sponge bath in the "Wash" room (no toilet in there, just a sink). When I got in the sauna in Kuressaare, I was like a bird in a birdbath. Water was flying everywhere. It felt ooohhhhh so good!

The final thing I'll tell about taking a sauna is how you feel afterward. You feel so relaxed and so limp. This is not the time to go to work. This is the time to relax! It feels so very good.

Esto stories to continue...

CFBC - Good Time Oldies

As you all know I have my own programs Rendezvous and Sunny Side Up on our Campus Community and Multi- Cultural Radio station, CFMH. I really enjoy it. The reason I did it in the first place was to push myself out of my comfort zone. Never in a million years would I have thought I'd be doing this.

Last year, I had Greg Springall on as a special guest on Sunny Side Up to promote 2nd Stage's, "Our Town", which we were both involved with. At the time, Greg was a DJ at CFBC and K-100. Needless to say I was a bit nerved up to have a professional DJ as my special guest. But Greg not only made me feel comfortable, he complemented me, supported me and encouraged me. Not long ago Greg moved away and his job at the radio station was left vacant. He asked if I would be interested. I was so flattered. I couldn't believe he thought I was good enough on air to do his job. I decided if he believed I could do it, I had to believe it too and said yes to him. Greg went on to put a good word in for me at the station before he left. I took my resume in and waited. I got the job and started training last Saturday. This Saturday, I'll be on air in the evening. I can't believe that I've come so far. Like I said, I just wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone. Never would I have imagined I'd love being a DJ or that I'd ever do it professionally.

Thank you to Greg for everything, Ted for allowing me to use his good CBC name as a reference, Jennifer for always making me feel like I'm the best, Jay for his enthusiasm, to Don and Rita for their unending support and to my fans for listening. I love you all!

Estonia Part 1 - Tallinn

As many of you know I recently took a trip to Estonia with my wonderful cousin Jana. The flight went well. We left Saint John, NB at 4:30 PM March 19th and we arrived in Estonia just past 4:30 PM on March 20th. There is a 6 hour time change so we were on the road for about 16 hours. The longest part of the trip was from Montreal to Frankfurt, 7 1/2 hours. We had several relatives meet us at the airport. They welcomed us with flowers. I love that custom!

Jana went to Saaremaa with her family and I stayed in Tallinn at my cousin Margus'. Margus and his family live in a well kept home. They had recently done some renovations and it was much more roomy than when I had been there before. Like many homes in Estonia, they had running water but still had no shower. Their water was heated by the kitchen wood stove. It amazed me how clean people there kept themselves and their homes without all the conveniences we have to work with. While I was away, I applied for my Estonian passport. That will give me duel citizenship which is my birthright. I don't know how it will benefit me but now that Estonia is part of the EU, you never know when it may come in handy. I should have it in hand by the end of the April. The last time I was in Estonia many things were hard to come by. The most remarkable thing that I remember is that they used abacuses in the stores to do their calculations. You should have seen their fingers go. It was truly amazing and fast. Now the stores all have computer cash registers and the stores are full with anything you want to buy. The stores are much more colourful as well with advertisements all over the place. The prices for things were very comparable to the prices here in Canada. However, the wages are much lower which makes the cost of living very high for the average Estonian. One day while everyone was at work, Kristo, my 15 year old cousin took me to town shopping. What a great kid! He made sure I got breakfast and then together we went into the city by bus. We shopped and shopped. He was so patient as I listened to lots of CDs. In Estonia you can preview any music before buying it. I bought him some Sony headphones for a thank you gift for being my guide. I had noticed him eyeing them earlier in the day. He fought me on getting them. He is so polite. He was also a lot of fun to go to town with considering the difference in our ages. We really hit it off. He carried everything I bought in his backpack and then we bussed it back home.
That evening after we got back from the city, they took me to the TV tower for supper. It is like the CN tower but not as tall. It is over 500 meters tall. The restaurant is at 370 meters. The meal was very good and fancy. I took a picture of it. :-)
Let me tell you what happened that night. I must have been dreaming and going to sleep walk. I've done that in the past. I pushed myself up on my arms and must have been going to get out of bed but the bed sheets were wrapped around my legs and woke me up. I remember thinking "What am I doing?" and so I went to let myself back down. Now, there was a desk butted up against the head of my bed. The bed was very narrow for a single bed, about 2 1/2 feet wide. As I let myself back down, I hit the corner of the desk with my eye and gave myself a black eye. I knew when it happened that it would be black. It was not real bad. I was able to cover it with makeup. How crazy is that?! One evening Pilvi, another cousin invited us out to see one of my younger cousins, Kadri, in a musical performance. She is a gymnast and competes in rhythmic gymnastics. She is also a dancer and in the performance she did interpretive dance to the songs with two other girls while the singers sung. It was wonderful!

It struck me that all the young girls in Estonia were strikingly beautiful. If you want to know more about that, just ask Jaybird.

Too be continued...

Happy Easter

Wishing one and all a Very Happy Easter!

Trip to Muhu

Today I took a side trip to a little island in the Baltic Sea called Muhu (moo-who). My father was born in Muhu in 1911. Yes, he was old enough to be my grandfather. I think I was an accident. Dad was 49 when I was born. Mom was 39. My aunt Roosi still lives on the old homestead. She is 82 years old and as smart as can be. One of the main reasons for this visit to Estonia is that I am working on my father's family tree. Roosi gave me all kinds of information. I was able to add about 100 people to the tree with her help.

The reason I am writing about this leg of the trip is because I want to share with you how some people still live. In our busy world, with so many modern conveniences, we often take things for granted. As I mentioned, Roosi is 82 years old. She lives alone. Her health is not great. She has had a hip replacement recently, her back aches and she is going blind. There is no running water in her home. She has to carry it in from the well. She does not have a bathroom. She has an outhouse and for bathing she has a sauna. A real sauna, an Estonian sauna, has lots of steam and buckets of water to wash with. Their purpose is to be a bath house. They are not like the dry sauna's we are used to where you just sit and sweat. Roosi has to heat her water for washing anything on her wood stove. The stove is also her only source of heat as well as her only stove to cook on. She has a very spoiled dog who she loves dearly. She takes him and bathes him in the sauna when she takes her own sauna. He is her dearest friend and so she has always fed him by hand. She calls him in from outside and he rolls onto his back and she breaks bread of leftovers into small pieces and feeds him one bite at a time. He looks like a little king laying there.

Life is simple for Roosi, though hard. She gets only a small pension from the government of about $200 a month. Groceries cost the same in Estonia as they do in Canada. She rides her bike to the store. Her eye sight is bad but she says she can still tell where the edge of the road is.
As little as she has and as hard as it is for her to get around, she made a lovely meal for me today. She baked chicken with a delicious sauce in her wood stove. She pealed and boiled potatoes that she had dug last fall from her own garden. She served the meal with delicious Muhu rye bread and home made cranberry sauce. For desert she served the best cakes she could afford. She greeted me with proud welcoming arms and when I left she shed tears. I am so humbled. She gave so generously out of her need. There seems to be a lesson here. Often those who have little give much, yet often those who have much, give little.

Here in Estonia

Hi All,
Sorry that I missed Jay and Jennifer Sunday but I am positive that the program went without a hitch. I had hoped to listen in on the net but alas, the family I'm staying with does not have the net. However, this coming Sunday I'll be able to tune in.

I am having a great time and not suffering any jetlag, thankfully. My Estonian sure needs brushed up. I'm doing some land business and really feel the lack of business words in my vocabulary.

Hope all is well and be sure to tune in Sunday again. Jay and Jennifer will be on to entertain you.

Peatse kohtumiseni (Until we see again) ,
Leanna

Jay and Jenn to Jazz it Up

Tune in to Rendezvous March 20th and 27th. Jenn is a Jazz singer herself and I would expect between the two of them, they will serve up some great jazz with a side dish of other carefully selected music. Perhaps Jay will even read some poetry. He has such a sexy voice!

They are both excited about doing the show. Show them your support. In case you don't know, I am Estonian. Both my parents escaped the Russian occupation in the late 1930s and fled first to Sweden and then to Canada. My father was the only one, in his family, that got out. So, I have tons of relatives there and I'm very excited about going. I've been there several times. The first time was in 1977 and the last was in 1992, over 10 years ago, just after the iron curtain fell. This visit will be much different from my previous visits. It will be interesting to see if the people are happier since they've regained their freedom. When they were under Russia, they were so suppressed and no one in public ever smiled. I would make a game of seeing if I could make the clerks in the stores smile. It was never easy. My understanding, with freedom, has come modernization, free enterprise and the stores are full again. Unfortunately, with freedom, drugs and some other evils have also arrived. Freedom comes with responsibility. There is no doubt about that.

I'll be away until the end of the month. Hopefully, I'll be able to tell you what I'm up to if I get near a computer on the net. Until then.

We'll be lovin' by the luck of the Irish

Tune in Sunday for a Rendezvous of Irish music in honour of St Patrick's day coming up this week. This will be a mix and match dinner. Keep checking as I update you on the choices. type='text'>Idea for Romance

This Thursday there will be a full moon. Dress warm and take your sweetheart to the beach. Bring along wine, glasses and don't forget the corkscrew. Put some romantic muisc on the car stereo and roll down the windows. Get out of the car and dance on the beach under the moonlight. It is chilly in February but all the more reason to dance close. Try it. It's very romantic.

Date With the Moon

The western sky, brushed with peach,
The promise of a nice day.

There’s an air of eagerness.
An intended rendezvous,
A date with the moon.

Now plump, his face peeks from behind the clouds.
Glancing to the sunset and gazing at me.
He promises to be ready,
And, so will we.

Leanna Feb. 2005
Please rate this poem with comments 1-10. 1=do not like 10=like very much

Love Word of the Week

Cupid \KYOO-pid\ noun 1 : the Roman god of love
2 not capitalized: a figure that represents Cupid as a naked usually winged boy often holding a bow and arrow

The Story Behind the Word
According to Roman mythology, Cupid was the son of Mercury, the messenger god, and Venus, the goddess of love. In Roman times, the winged "messenger of love" was often depicted in armor, but no one is sure if that was intended as a sarcastic comment on the similarities between warfare and romance, or a reminder that love conquers all. I can't just be happy playing love songs on air, I have to have a theme for each program too. This of course means more work, but I love it and I've had so many good comments about the flow of my show that it is worth the trouble. Actually, one day, a fan called me on air as I was begining my show. He wanted to know what the weeks theme was. So, the audience, notices too.

This week the theme of the music and poetry is kissing. Hope you can tune in Sunday 4:00-6:00 PM AST on www.shoutcast.com . Also known as a Soul kiss.

Butterfly Kiss
To brush one's eyelashes against a partner while rapidly blinking. It produces a light, ticklish sensation, as of a butterfly brushing one's cheek.

Eskimo Kiss
To touch the tips of each other's noses, then rub back and forth.

Thrown Kiss
A long distance kiss that is usually used as a farewell. Not too common anymore. Seen mostly in parades and silent movies. One 'kisses' their hand, then 'throws' the kiss to their distant partner, who usually completes the action by 'catching' the kiss and putting it on their mouth, cheek, or in their pocket. Can be traumatic if you don't warm up your arm.

Blown Kiss
Similar to the thrown kiss, but used at close range when a thrown kiss might be intercepted. One kisses their hand, then 'blows' the kiss toward their partner.

Hand Kiss
This kiss is another member of the thrown-kiss fairly. The only difference is that after the kiss is placed in the hand, it is personally delivered and applied to the other person's face. Although more accurate than either the thrown or blown kiss, it can be hazardous if delivered with a slap.

Make Up Kiss
After having upset your partner, this is the kiss that usually follows the apology. Often among the most passionate of kisses.

Sympathy Kiss
When one of the participants really doesn't want to kiss, but does anyway. Also known as a "pity kiss."

Upside Down Kiss
A kiss performed so that one partner's lips are upside-down to the the other partner, so that their mouths are top lip to bottom lip. This can be a very unusual and enjoyable kiss.

More Fun Kisses
Peaches Kiss
When you say the word peaches, your lips come together for less than a second. Imagine saying this when you kiss - it happens very quickly.

Prunes Kiss
Described as such because the movement of the lips during this kiss roughly approximates that caused by uttering the word prunes. It's Longer than a peaches kiss.

Alfalfa Kiss
Hold your tongue with your fingers and try to say alfalfa - you can't do it. Nor can you perform the alfalfa kiss without using the tongue.

Glass Kiss
This kiss is most commonly used when you are separated by a pane of glass. Oftentimes you are in a hurry and can't roll down the car window, or the sliding door is shut and you don't want to let the cold air in the house. If you are participating in a glass kiss and the other person pulls away to see your pressed lips, blow air into the window and make your checks swell.

Underwater Kiss
Remember wondering what it would be like to kiss underwater? Then you convinced your neighbor to try it with you in the pool, you found out it was no big deal: you can't feel their lips very well, the chlorine hurts your eyes, and you swallow water on your way to the surface. It may be more interesting if you fill the pool with Jell-O.

Noisy Kiss
A kiss that makes noise is not unusual, it's just noisy.

Kiss in the Dark
Kissing in the dark is a problem for those with bad sense of direction, they end up kissing the ear, eye etc.. One way to alleviate this problem is to locate your date's nose, grip it tightly to use as a reference point, and kiss below the hand.

Kiss Joke

Two old men were talking over old times and saying how much things had changed. Consider yourself besotted. Our modern word "besot" developed from a combination of the prefix "be-" and "sot," a now obsolete word meaning "a habitual drunkard." "Sot" in turn comes from the Old English "sott," which was used as a noun meaning "fool" or "drunkard" and as a verb meaning "to stupefy." In its "infatuation" sense, "besot" is most often turned into a participial adjective, a role it is likely to play in literary musings on "besotted lovers." The first known use of "besotted" was in Sir Thomas North's 1580 translation of Plutarch's Lives, in which Antonius was described as "besotted by Cleopatra."

Give Me a Kiss

Give me a kiss,

Add to that kiss a score;

Then to that twenty,

Add a hundred more:

A thousand to that hundred:

So kiss on,

To make that thousand up a million.

Treble that million,

And when that is done,

Let's kiss afresh,

As when we first begun.

Robert Herrick

Awe, Joe.

This week we are fundraising at cfmh. We are a non-for-profit organization and though all the djs are volunteer, we do have some costs that we need to raise funds for. As a result, I was also on for four weekday mornings this week co-hosting with the morning djs, trying to raise some much needed cash. On Thursday, I got a call from a fellow dj. Apparently Joe, a friend of his, was listening from NY, the Big Apple, on his computer on www.shoutcast.com . He was chatting with his dj friend and asked who the girl (me) was that was on-air at the time. He said he had fallen in love with my voice. And, now he has a boyhood crush on me. Awe Joe! He had asked if I would say hi to him on air. I did. I hope he tunes in to Rendezvous. If he enjoyed me fundraising, he'll love me on Rendezvous.

Sorry Blog Hoppers

Well, this blogging is new to me and my busy and sometimes hectic life.
